Nice photos. No luck in my neck of the woods.

A clear frosty night here in Kent and I was able to see the eclipse very clear. At about 05.50 it was emwerging from the shadow of the Earth and cleared by 0700.

Nice sequence images Neil.
Though not far from you, here in Warwickshire, it was fog & dense cloud.
In fact the last clear exlipse I captured was in 2004. A 15 sec exposure with a Leica and P/shop only to correct some colour noise.

Managed to get a glimpse around 0400hrs - patchy cloud here (Berkshire,Surrey & Hampshire boarder) with some local light pollution. But still fascinating to see.

My image above is from 2015. I got up at 2:00 and realised it would be hidden by trees at home.

I got up at 3:30 and it was so cloudy i couldn't face packing the gear in the car etc. for nothing and went back to bed.

Some fellow astro club members stuck with it and got a few decent pics. Well done to all who persevered!

Persevered? Lol. I just happened to get up early and went out to unlock the barn and noticed a dull light above the hill. "Oh bless my soul" I paraphrased.. it's that bloody moon thingy, I wonder if the camera is charged and the gap in the clouds will stay?

Clear night here - Southern Ontario. I remembered having a grandstand view of a Lunar eclipse a couple of years ago from my bedroom window and figured I'd do the same again. However, this time the moon was high in the sky and disappeared behind me over the roof of the house before the real action started.

I guess in Winter when the Sun is low in the sky, the moon is correspondingly high. The previous eclipse that I saw must have been in Summer when that would be vice-versa.

With a temperature of -21C, winds gusting to 50 Km/h, wind-chill value of -34C and frostbite warnings being given out, I wasn't about to go outside and look.

"Blue, blue windows behind the stars, Yellow moon on the rise" But I suppose that was North Ontario!

Moon's orbit is inclined, but its orbit takes just over 27 days but Earth moving around the sun means it is around 28 days between full moons. I'm not 100% sure but I guess the height of the full moon goes from minimum to maximum and back again over about 2 1/2 years.

The net suggests the range of elevations varies about 10 degrees between highest and lowest.
