3453 forum posts 23 photos | I was on the auction site the other week looking to see if I could get a 6mm slot drill cheap. I took a chance on a solid carbide TiAIN coated one for £2.98 inc. it said it was coming from China but when it arrived today I noticed it came from a company in Boaungkyaw Street in Myanmar. It looks very nicely made and was well packaged so if you see any on offer ... I’ve yet to try it yet though so if it doesn’t perform I’ll add an update. |

I get all my milling cutters cheap cheap from China and have not had a bad one yet. I figure their factories are not churning out most of the world's consumer goods using junk quality cutters that hold up production by needing to be replaced too often. What works and lasts well in their highspeed production/toolmaking environment is more than up to the task in a home workshop, as far as I have seen so far. |

![]() 2320 forum posts 452 photos | If they cut ok then they certainly are a bargain, the only cheap cutting tools I took a chance with is a set of countersink bits and they are ok. I am a bit cautious though when it comes to end mills/slot drills but if people are finding them to be good then why not. |

3453 forum posts 23 photos | The one I got has the whole fluted area coated. It looks very nicely ground. I bought a HSS one some time back and that one cuts fine but doesn’t look as nice as some of my old English cutters. |

![]() 2320 forum posts 452 photos | But how cheap can you go..? On you know where there is a set of 8 HSS 4 flute end mills 2,3,4,5,6,8,10 and 12mm for £8, so £1 per tool including a 10 and 12mm..? I can only imagine that they must be rubbish but are they..? No, I,m not going to spend £8 to find out. Edited By Ron Laden on 29/12/2018 10:08:34 |
