109 forum posts | I realise I'm going over old ground with this request, but could anyone recommend a good quick change tool post/tool holder system for my ML7. Looking through the ME archive I've found reference to 'A & R Precision' QCTH who, on the face of it have gone into liquidation. There seems to be quite a few to choose from internet wise, including some of which that don't have a very favourable write-up (in the archive).

For that reason I recently sold my collection of little used Dixon type QCTP & holders & changed over to the Arc Euro trade wedge style lathe tool holding system. As it uses a different type of clamping system any minor size differences from holder to holder do not affect the clamping strength. Obviously others will have different stories to tell. Tony |

![]() 3676 forum posts 82 photos | As Tony says the Dickson system has been undermined by poor quality copies from some Asian manufacturers. The spacing of the V guides is critical and the relationship of the tee slot for the clamp and the V has to be held to tight tolerance or the holder will not lock and stay locked. There is something of a range of prices and you would hope the more expensive clones would be ok but it may be better to look elsewhere especially as most people build their toolholder collection incrementally over time and getting ones that fit may not be straightforward. ![]() 520 forum posts 194 photos | Hi Guys, I've just made a "Norman patent toolholder for my Myford S7B. I should have done this years ago. No modifications to the lathe, just removing the old tool holder and replacing it with a 38 mm diameter post. I also made a new nut to get rid of the ball handle.

Might pay you to drop me a copy of the article then ! I have a complete set of drawings based on the original patent. Though I have published my design in a number of places.
