Only that it might say the location is Germany but I suspect its China based on the sales address.

Yes, the seller's based in Zhejiang province, China.

If there was a serious fault with it on arrival and you needed to return it, you'd probably be asked to return it to China and pay the return postage on the promise of it being refunded if the seller agrees after inspection that the item is in fact faulty.

Experience only please. I understand the sourcing risk / issues.

The reason I ask is they come up a lot, seem GVFM but cannot find any reviews.

Things that come out of China that seem GVFM are usually not.........

Again...experience only please...not opinion. I am an adult and know the risks having lived and worked in China for 3 years running manufacturing companies

Looks very much like the Warco WM180....

Still has the dc motor with probably a Chinese version of the KB controller....

Although I dont have any direct experience of the machine, for the sort of money your paying I'd avoid it and spend a bit more on the Sieg SC3 offered by the likes of Arceurotrade...reason....reliabilty of the electrics. I have one and it does serve its purpose....reliably...

Why are you bothering to ask us then, surely you can use your contacts in China to get the low down direct from source?

I don't recall anyone on the forum having one of these so you may draw a blank

Regarding being GVFM, I did not see the fixed & traveling steadies, faceplate or a 4-jaw chuck mentioned in the advert, these would add about another £175 to the cost if you were to buy these from a UK supplier of similar style 180mm Variable speed lathes assuming they would fit. So not such a good saving given the obvious drawbacks of buying direct when comparing the cost from a UK supplier that includes all those items .

But surely what you are asking is opinion based on experience?

I buy a pair of shoes, I wear them, they wear out very quickly....I've experienced the durability of said item, my opinion is they wear out quickly....ergo dont buy them....

As I said in my previous post, I've had/owned/used a mini lathe with a dc drive....They are ( insert own adjective!) compared to their brushless counterparts....which is why I now own an SC3 brushless version....

John,

It's not that I don't appreciate your view.

I have been researching all lathe types within my budget and as usual my budget gets stretched and stretched.

I could not find any reviews on this particular lathe hence the question. I want to fill a gap in my knowledge base!

Others will soon be asking he same questiin as these lathes keep cropping up at a certain price point on eBay.

Hence my request for experience using this particular machine.

Seems like you might be drawing a blank on the forum, possibly because nobody would touch them! Lack of any experience can tell you a lot (unless the hundreds on the forum, who have tried them, are keeping very quiet about itsmiley).

Buy one and give us the benefit of your experience. Someone has to be first.smiley

Alan,

Possibly.

I assume you have ignored my request to post only if you have experience of this machine,

I want to hear from someone that has used / owned one!

Please, please please...only post if you have this machine. I was hoping for first hand experience.
