xmas present from my family

got to drive a steam engine on the Swanage line on Monday in all the snow

what a great experience all the family including 3 dogs got a free ride we all had a great day

cant remember what the engine was hope someone could tell me

great to known some of the history of the engine there was so much to take in I think they said it was made in Brighton I could be wrong

The locomotive is a British Railways Standard Class 4 2-6-4T

Affectionately known as a Standard class 4 clank, 'cos that's the noise the coupling rods make, at least on all the ones I've seen over the years.

Joe Brown the musician was a locomotive fireman in his early days, and a few years ago he was reunited with one of the class that he actually worked on, number 80079, a resident of the Severn Valley Railway.

How's that for trivia, (may come up in a pub quiz sometime.)
