912 forum posts 40 photos | I'm very much a beginner with 3D printing, but one immediate thought is that the edges of the object may not be completely joined, so that your stl isn't a closed solid. I assume that a slicer would not regard overlapping edges or two or more vertices representing one point on the model as defining a solid object in much the same was as a failed 3D render. Brian |

![]() 2904 forum posts 448 photos | Most odd that the preview seems to show it hollow. And if you'd added supports, they'd be on the outside of the cup, not the inside. Somehow the model has become solid, albeit with the default (20%?) fill. I doubt you'd need to change slicer to fix this - presumably it's not a bug, so must be some configurable setting. If you are really stuck, the slicer support forum may be more useful than this one. I've only used Cura. Murray |

Most odd that the preview seems to show it hollow. And if you'd added supports, they'd be on the outside of the cup, not the inside. Somehow the model has become solid, albeit with the default (20%?) fill. It means that the top surface is zero thickness. Odds are it's a problem with the model not the slicer. One way of doing this is to subtract an object from another when they share a plane face - always more reliable to have the object clearly proud of the face so it has to penetrate it. Another route is moving nodes on a 3D object and 'bending' a plane surface. Sometimes it just happens... Neil |

1468 forum posts 3 photos | Just watched a youtube video explaining some of the mesh settings in cura and by clicking on one little box (fill all holes ) the holes that were designed into the part being printed dissapeared . Maybe something similar to what the OP is having trouble with ? |
