136 forum posts 5 photos | Hi all I'm looking at upgrading my Chester Conquest mill to either the Warco Major of the WM16b is there any out there that I can get opinions for or against. After dealings with Chester I will avoid their offerings. Many thanks in advance Lionel Edit misplaced words Edited By Limpet on 18/02/2018 19:02:33 And spelling Edited By Limpet on 18/02/2018 19:03:40 |

![]() 1766 forum posts 46 photos | Hi Lionel, I have an old milling machine similar to the Warco Wm16b although mine has a brushed motor. The WM16b has a brushless motor that has more torque than mine. My milling machine has served me well for six years without any trouble. The Warco Major is a round column mill and it is easy to loose centring if you have to move the head up/down the column. If you want something bigger than the Wm16b you might have a look at Warco GH18, almost the same price as the Major, and the GH18 has a dovetailed column. Thor |

cheers Edited By Trevorh on 19/02/2018 15:51:46 |

136 forum posts 5 photos | Many thanks Thor & Trevorh for the feedback.I hadn't thought that hard about the round column but can now see it will be an annoyance to say the least, I discounted the GH18 due to the limited longitudinal traverse (360mm) I need min 400mm. So I will be ordering the 16B - unless someone says differently!!!! Many thanks Lionel |
