Small Number Plate Required For 2" Minnie

Can anyone tell me where I can obtain a suitable number plate to mount on the funnel of my 2" Minnie?

I have just visited a number plate supplier in Wednesbury, Birmingham who I first saw at the Great Dorset Steam Fair a few years ago. They used to supply small-scale metal number plates suitable for road-legal model traction engines of all scales, but are no longer able to do so as they do not conform to current legislation.

Any suggestions would be most welcome

David are you looking for a plate that just looks the part for display or are you looking for a small legal one for a road registered Traction Engine? I know a lot of people use both usually fitting the legal one over the show plate when on the pub run.

You may be better going to somebody like steamplates to get the show one done in old black background and white/alloy letters and then get a full size one of your Q plate from any motor factors with the reg docs.

Thank you all for your suggestions - it seems that the term "show plates" applies to these small, illegal number plates.

I need a metal plate, so Steamplates looks like the best bet. I intend to put a full-size, legal number plate on the back of my driving trolley, but does anyone know if small traction engines have a legal requirement to display a full-size plate on the front (motor bikes are exempt for example)? A full-size plate on the front of my 2" Minnie would be totally out of proportion!!

I suspect a dodgy number plate would be the last thing the boys in blue would worry about when they catch you going down the M4 behind a 2" Minnie...
