I'm looking for information...

I've managed to loose the handle from my Moore and Wright 2-12" inside mic,(I say I lost, but it came back from a borrowing!).

Could some tell me what the thread is? Dia and tpi would do.

Thank you
Jim

Imperial mics are usually 40 tpi. One rotation of the thimble gives a .025" linear movement, hence the barrel marked in .025" incremens.

Jim, I'm assuming that you mean the thread on the rod that is used to hold the mic in a bore whilst measuring it. If so, it is 6BA.

Err, OP said the handle, not the micrometer. smile o

The thread on my M&W internal mic handle measures 0.127" OD, which points to 5BA, nominally 0.126" OD.

Excellent!

I was loathed to start trying taps in the hole.

Thank you

Sorry Jim, I made it 6BA by trying nuts on the thread! I'll give it a proper measure tomorroe and get back to you.

I've just checked and luckily I've got a good 5BA and 6BA. Thanks again
