At the recent Doncaster show some visitors were concerned by Warcos absence combined with the message which they may have seen on Warcos Website:

warco160517.jpg

Warco have requested me to make this post on their behalf, to say that it is business as usual. The website is temporarily unavailable as they need to make essential upgrades, as stated above. This work is hoped to be completed within six to ten days. During this period they are happy to help and take orders over the phone, as stated.

Warco is also grateful and humbled by every ones concern. At the same time, they sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused due to this development.

Ketan (on behalf of Warco)

So were they hacked by the ransomers?

Was it a disgruntled purchaser trying to get his money back?

Note - this was supposed to be a witty comment, as a Warco milling machine owner I am not having a pop at them wink 2.

And Ketan, thanks for posting this smiley.

Hi David,

I believe that the website was shut down pre the last weekend ransomers.... but the ransomers issue did raise every ones concern, hence Warcos desire for this post.

They are trying to fix some technical issues with the upgrades which is taking longer then they thought.

Ketan.

Pass my best wishes on to the poor IT folk who are trying to fix it! Been there, done that. There's nothing like an 'upgrade with technical issues' for ruining one's day, weekend, or worse! In my experience even the most tolerant and understanding of bosses have a complete sense of humour failure after an hour or two of unplanned downtime.

I managed a small computing group who ran the manufacturing, supply and accounting software for 14 years. We had about 4 hours downtime in those 14 years which included software and machine upgrades including year 2000. We managed 12 or more UK geographic manufacturing and sales sites and a couple in Europe with a total turnover exceeding £60 million - all from a pair of unix based back to back raided computers. Annual budget including wages was about £750K. I left before they upgraded to the latest market software ! Network servers everywhere, File servers, print servers, database servers . Downtime was a weekly occurrence and budget soared to over £4 million. Staff went from about 7 to 45, but that was progress.
Good luck with the upgrade, I am glad that I am out of all that stuff now.

The Morris Minor forum was down for over a month, I think, when they changed ISP or servers or something. It took ages before some of the previous regular posters returned.

Hi, indeed it was before the hackers and I think it was before the weekend, before this last weekend, because that's when I looked at it and it was shutdown then and had a different message altogether.

Regards Nick.

Perhaps MTM could make a small temporary modification to the cycling advert to the right of this thread?

It's great that a market competitor is the one to put up a thread for them, but pity that they are not so into the subculture of the hobby that they didn't go to Neil or Diane who would have been a more logical choice for this helping hand.

They possibly did but you need to remember that neither Diane or Neil work full time for MTM so they may not have responded as quickly as that dedicated Mr Swali did. Also if their whole system is down then they may not have been able to e-mail but were able to phone Ketan.

Warco have always been very good to me, so I appreciate seeing their support carried through on here by other users.

Thanks Ketan.

Warco if you are reading this you still have problems when viewed using IE, seems OK on Chrome.

Price savings printed over image and not on green background. Line of headings stays on the screen as you scroll down

The new website looks good and is faster than the old one. Works for me in Firefox and seems OK in Edge.
