Myford Beds?

A while ago, it was said that a gentleman who dismantles Myford lathes, did not sell on the beds, because of the weight involved.

A friend of mine wants a bed to have reground. His current bed has been damaged and is beyond regrinding.

Can anyone tell me who the gentleman is and a possible contact number? I have searched the threads and cannot find the reference!

Thanks in advance,

Andrew.

Andrew,

I think that was probably Jim Marshall, a long established dismantler of the M-Machine.

He is in Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire these days.

Tel 01526 354444 - office hours. Mon-Fri

email [email protected]

He does have an ebay shop called "myford-stuff" I think

I had a deeply unpleasant experience recently with the gentleman from Lincolnshire.

You may not, but that's probably enough said on an open forum.

Thanks for all the information. I believe it was Chris Dooley. The gent from Lincolnshire sells beds on Ebay so I am sure it is not him!

Thanks all,

Andrew.

.

You mean ebay.??

Why is it that the name ebay for some reason on here is pussy footed around.?? - It's not like it's part of the 'dark web' that is selling illegal drugs, surface to air missiles and plutonium now is it.?? ............. It's ebay.!!!

So it's OK to provide direct email addresses and phone numbers in an open forum but god forbid anyone should use the 4 letter word E B A Y

Not having a go at you David. Lot's of people do it.

Unless there is a good reason why ebay (OMG said it again) cannot be mentioned here. - Perhaps a moderator could clarify.?

Dunno .... I've wondered and asked the same question here myself. Don't hold your breath on getting a sensible answer.

No offence taken wink 2.

The only reason I didn't mention it is because I belong to lots of forums (too many probably, that's why I have so many jobs on my to do list sad), with many varied interests, and some are really touchy about eBay, some aren't. One shooting forum is sponsored by an online retailer (and a good one) so I can understand his position.

As I can't remember which ones are touchy about eBay and which aren't, I tend to err on the side of caution smiley

I think a lot of forum members are cautious about promoting ebay sellers at the expense of our advertisers, bearing in mind that without the latter we wouldn't have a forum.

I'm not use using alternative names makes any difference though, as we all know who people mean. i suspect it started with people who were less than impressed by ebay sellers using derogatory versions of the name.

'Epay' will come out high on the rating list for any search on 'goggle' without any help from anyone in particular.

So, I never promote them, as a matter of principal. Further, a reference to 'big river', for instance, will mean that your posting may not necessarily show up on a search of that site. Particularly useful, if one wishes for anonymity rather than being read by all and sundry.

They all collect information on everyone that references them. I don't want potential advertising rubbish arriving in my mail.

Think here of loyalty cards. They know what you buy, where you buy and when you buy. They can then pass on this information or bombard you with 'offers' that you can do without, as they have your buying profile on record.

Think twitface, where the nasties might note that your house is 'ripe' for a 'visit' because the member had stupidly advertised to the world and his dog that the house is likely unoccupied - and had left markers for its address.

A recent example was that of an eye test I had recently. I did not actually absolutely need a new prescription, so did not purchase a pair of high-priced specs at the time. I later was offered any pair at half price by the outlet. That happened to be a worthwhile offer, as it happened! But it does demonstrate that they had me on record as having had an eye test, but of not buying their over-priced spectacles! I expect they still made a healthy profit, just not a real 'killing' at my expense!
