Anyone know of a machinery transporter who can pick up a 200 + kilo item from a garage in Derby and transport to Towcester ?

Or is any one up for a cash job ?

I have moved about 200kg (Raglan lathe plus several accessories) in my Saxo on numerous occasions. Not a problem if partly dismantled and disributed evenly. Both loaded and unloaded on my tod, quad bypass and all.

I would recommend Landylift. He did a 600 mile round trip from Yorkshire to Southampton and even moved the lathes off his van and round the back of my house. He was polite and careful and completely professional. Even more so if you consider there were two lathes and each at nearly a tonne. The only reason I have not used him more is that I have not bought anything large enough that I cannot do myself. Yet. When I do, I will be using him without a second thought.

Search for machine transport brought up this thread. I need to get a D-W mill plus stand from Solihull to N Norfolk. I would think it's probably a bit small to use Landylift. Can't find any other recommendations and Shiply are definite no-nos from past experience. Does anyone have good experience to recommend, please?

Find someone local with a Hi Ace van,the amount of stuff you can move with these is amazing, like a craftsman lathe+ lux mill + a load of tooling +bits and pieces, and all this from Chester to Wexford,no problem !!

Details of the stand would be good, as that would initially appear to be the only problem.

The mills were available as a kit? Easily reduced to component parts, or at least smaller assemblies?

My Boxford 330 weighs circa 450kg.

On castors, two of us easily got it on a Luton van with tail lift, and off and pushed into place in my workshop.

Ian Burgoyne of D & P Crane Services 07906 480925 has the kit, is reasonable and knows what he is doing. Moved my Super 7 very capably and can handle larger kit. Robert Butler

I would think a Luton van and two people should manage a tonne with no particilar problem - as long as the tail lift was rated OK. But there are smaller payload vans which are still termed 'Luton' and will only lift 500kg. But that would not be a problem in this instance...

Thank you Robert - that's the sort of info I was after. The D-W is no problem - I could (and might have to) put it in my Berlingo. It's the distance and lack of daylight for what would, for me, be a 9 hour driving day ... at 82, not overly welcome!

Dear Bill no problem, although he is based near Nottingham he dismantled my Super 7 collecting it from North Derbyshire, carrying it down steep steps, strapped it down expertly and delivered it to Tamworth. He then off loaded and positioned it for what I considered to be a very reasonable cost and no damage whatsoever. Regards Robert Butler
