Rob

Your photos in this thread are invisible.

Your album is fine ... How are you trying to load these?

Rob, you need to have the photo saved in your album then, in the toolbar of the editor there is a black 'camera' icon, this allows you to insert a picture from an album, click on the camera then choose the picture you want to insert.

.

Graeme's description should work fine ... unless you're on an early version of iOS

My old iPad [original version, running iOS 5.1.1] can't upload to the Albums, but the new one can.

Not much info there. Does the big hole in the background contain the spindle with a surface against which a brake shoe presses? It could be the shoe needs pressing back or does that handle need to come off?

Is the handle pinned on with a roll pin ? You might need to remove it to allow the casing to come off.

can't see properly but the lever coming from the centre boss looks like it's got a flat on it.

it doesn't just unscrew from the boss, does it?

No that hole take the motor, the spindle is the hole just behind the brake lever,

No I think that part is like a rear brake drum of a car, but I'm not certain 🤔

Gate and Elliott were all part of a business group, and products were very similar, the Elliott turret mill had a similar brake which was a brake drum with two internal expanding shoes, similar in construction to a moped brake and about the same size, had to strip mine as one shoe was seized and binding, can't help with the cover as its different to the Elliott

Thats a good description, moped brake. I'm sure I have seen a head like this gate mill been worked on on utube or one of the forums but can't find it😕

I got it off, a little heat from the heat gun & it just slides off. I will do a full video of the rebuild as nothing on utube for this mill. Gate turret mill G301D
