3631 forum posts 160 photos | Might give you an idea about removing the spindle. The bearings are sometime very tight. It would have wiser for me to make another spacer rather than use the vice and to ensure that the all thread ran right down the middle of the spindle. It's an ME10 but suspect that the A will be similar. One of the grub screws in the belt pulley is for oiling the back gear bearing. Maybe you have some slack in the drive rather than the pulley being loose. As mentioned the grub screws on the large counter shaft pulley go onto 2 flats on the spindle. If not square to the flats the pulley will rock. They need tightening alternately while rocking the pulley to get both well seated. John - Edited By Ajohnw on 04/12/2016 18:58:20 |

631 forum posts 14 photos | If you mean that the pulley is turning but the spindle isn't, move the lever on the front of the headstock to lock the pulley to the spindle. If you have the later type with the lever on top, check that the lever is in the correct position. The grub screw is for oil. Dave |
