5 forum posts 1 photos | Hi, Anyone know where I can purchase small quntities of oil suitable for the gearbox on my Elliot Progress 2g. Tried various companies but they only want to sell 20ltr's plus. The one recommended is Mobil 600 xp 150, but I'm sure others can recommend options.
Many Thanks. |

Their site is; http://www.acrisoils.com/ Address: Unit 6 Westfield Site, Bellamy Industrial Estate, Mansfield NG18 4LN

Or 90w automotive gear oil, the yellow-metal friendly variety, also perfect. Available at any car parts store. The Mobil 600 XP 150 oil you mention is for 24,000 horsepower marine transmissions, and 200hp mining conveyor belt drive boxes, perhaps a bit of overkill on the old drill press. The ISO 150 grade is equivalent to SAE 90 gear oil, or straight 40 weight engine oil. Nothing exotic.

Some companies that I have used The last one because I wanted a slightly heavier slideway oil. Their rust protection oils are interesting. Seem to evaporate a bit and leave something thicker, so I use it outdoors. John -
