Has anybody have harley/indian (from50's)like v-engine plans?

i downloaded one v-engine in autocad format from hotrods forum

description was "1:1 scale hd 59' v-engine " so i started to make one in 1:4 scale ,so i divided all measures by 4 ,and make one

but problem started with all small parts (my errors) ,and end up with engine housing been wrong size on autocad drawing

i give plans to guy to make housing ,his firm make smelted metal injection kind housings from alu to hi grade steel

and he tell me this wont work ,cause no space for rest parts in housing

by acad drawings

so i send msg to guy that post it and he send me link to grabcad site and ...

so anyone have drawings of some kind hd/indian kind chopper v-engine from 50's that are accurate

From memory there was a recent thread about someone building one. Also from memory Jason has built/is building one. Try a search on here.

If you are looking for a scale model then you really need to be looking for orininal blueprints, workshop manuals and measuring an actual engine. Although the CAD drawn engines on teh web may look very nice you have no idea of how accurately they have been drawn or what has been left out, by producing your own drawings you will start off wanting a working engine not just something that looks good on the screen.

I don't know of any drawings for a true scale model, people like Jerry Keiffer who did a very nice 1/6th scale knucklehead measured his own engine.

The original patent blueprints for the Harley 45-inch (750cc) sidevalve engine are available on Ebay USA and provide full cross sections and general arrangements. This engine was made from 1929 to 1973, but be aware it is completely different from the Harley "Big Twin" 1200cc Knucklehead, Panhead or Shovelhead. I think some patent blueprints are also available on eBay USA for the Shovelhead big twin, which should give you the same dimensions as a '59 Big Twin motor but different shaped cylinder head rocker boxes, easily enough changed for your own use. I'll see if I can find a link to where I bought my blueprints from. (I have a 1/4 scale Harley 45 in the works, once I make the dividing head to make the cam gears.)

OK, here is someone selling the blueprints for a late 1960s - 70s Shovelhead Harley engine, which is virtually the same inside as the 59 Panhead

Workshop manuals and parts books are still in print for these old bikes.

Is it at all possible to make the internal parts smaller to fit the drawings/castings you already have? Which part exactly is too small on your drawings? There are many things you can fake up on a model and still look "real". I have seen some model Harley type engines using toothed belts for the cam drive instead of gears, plain bronze bushings in place of roller bearings and so forth. Many things are possible.

PS and here is a link to 1930s-40s Harley Knucklehead original blueprints on eBay USA. This engine also is much the same internally as a 59, again the big difference is in the cylinder heads and rocker boxes. This engine has the same kind of generator drive gear in the right side crankcase/timing cover as the 59. Between the three sets of blueprints you should be able to get all the information you need to make a 59 Panhead. The drawings are 36 inches x 24 inches, or you can simply download smaller versions off the net if you do an image search for "Harley engine blueprints"

Isn't the Hoglet a small V twin engine similar to a Harley? A google search for Hoglet model engine will being up links, photos and videos.

Any luck?

The Hoglet is a representation of a V twin and nothing more. It does not even have an enclosed crankcase.

If you just want to make a V-twin engine that does not have to be a Harley, google "Hoglet" engine, or go to Jerry Howell's website and look at his V-twin plans for sale. I think there are threads on this forum about building both of these engines so they are well-proven designs that actually work. Try this link:
