In response to popular demand, please use this thread to posts details of your model engineering club.

Please include club name and address, a short description, website and contact details.

Assuming this attracts a reasonable number of postings, a special page will be created for just the details.

Please don't post phone numbers email/addresses without the permission of the person who gets the calls/emails!

Thanks,

Neil

A list of many clubs can be found here which may be easier than trawling through several pages of posts.

People expect this site to have a list on it, but I'd rather not plagiarise someone else's list which may or may not contain out of date information.

Plus, if people post here we can include more detail.

Is more detail needed? The link I posted above has a web address for each club, anyone using this site has web access so by clicking a link can get far more info about a club than any member is likely to post here. Would a simple sticky with site websites suffice as it should give address, contact details, meeting times/dates, club activities, etc

Hopefully the details on a clubs website will be upto date, if you make a list on here YOU will have to keep them upto date.

PS also see my e-mail about the need for two "club news" topics

I can see Neil's point. Some people struggle with google (ie search town name + Model Engineer) but website should be enough. Not every club has an address as such.

St Albans & District Model Engineering Society website

However Jason's link is really interesting as it seems to have archived my old site from about 8 years ago which I don't even have in my own archives since we went .com instead of .co.uk. Note the exhibition location has changed.
Also note how I warned of a huge 2MB download in the days when that could take a while  I think some advertising text (blue) about the town has been inserted, I wonder if that is why it still exists.

Similar to model engineering clubs that are now sometimes ltd companies these are growing in number

They could be of great help to beginners especially. One started up near me recently and were disposing of excess "metal working" thingies on home workshop.

Just looked at the web details. Open but only for 2 afternoons. Maybe due to lack of support. It's in Kings Heath.

The link that JasonB gave doesn't have the Tiverton club included.

All the details of the club can be found on their web site:
