Hello All

I bought some cheap flap disks from ebay – the price worked out at a little under £1.00 per disk. The disk didn't last very long, buy in contrast the local B&Q want about £11 per disk.

Has anyone got any experience to know if the expensive disks last 11 times as long as the cheap disks ? My instinct is probably not ?

The Blue zirconium discs from ebay are as good as any I have tried from my local welding supplier, but you normally need to buy a hundred to get them for anywhere close to a pound each.

There are plenty sold at car boot sales and probably ebay that last about a minute each, you can see by looking at them that the quality is poor.

A pack of 10 Kingspoor or similar from my local welding supplier worked out around £2.20 each last time I enquired

£11 each is outrageous.

if you email me your address I'll send you a couple of the blue ebay ones to try, me and a pal buy them by the hundred and have 50 each.

Alan.

Aldi have these on offer 23-8-15 https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/sun-23-aug/product-detail/ps/p/cutting-and-grinding-discs-1/

There are other bits including an angle grinder cutoff attachment and a sanding kit.

Regards.

Smith and Arrow flap discs on ebay, in 5" flavour , are good, as are their 5" x 1mm cutting discs . and when worn down a bit , fit a 4" grinder.. I buy 100 at a time so they work out cheap as chips...

Silverline ones disappear into dust rapidly...but they're really cheap..ok for a one off diy job

Thanks all – and biggest thanks to Allan for his generous offer. No need to worry though as I’ve quite a few of the cheap ebay ones at the moment myself.
