I need a low temp solder to seal a part on a tender. Its soldered together with leaded plumbing solder so I guess it melts 180-250 degrees. Is there anything which will work for brass below this temperature?

Hi Fizzy,

Have a look at the Carrs range of solders as used for building etched brass kits. Some of those are low melting point and I've used them in the past for various jobs including soldering tanks and tenders. I got my stock from C&L Finescale.

I've used ordinary electrical flux cored solder to good effect on brass tanks and tenders.

There are special solders that people who make white metal kits use. Chronos and Tiranti both sell a good selection.
