Hi

I used to have a Minilor TR1 lathe also known as Vario-lux 130. The spindle was bored to accept a collet type ESX25.

The FR1 milling attachment was bored to accept the same collets. For drilling a special ESX25 shaped collet was supplied which i think was bored MT1 to accept the drill chuck also used by the lathe tailstock.

regards

Steve

I you search the web there are various references to ESX25 being equivalent to ER25. These can be bought from Arceurotrade and on Ebay. I dont think i'd buy a set until i tried an ER25 collet to make sure it's ok so only buy 1 to start with.

regards

Steve

Hi Trevor,

I have a Minilor TR1 which I am stripping down and rebuilding. It is the lathe collet chuck that accepts ER25s. The lathe spindle is bored to about 13mm.

Steve is spot on with the FR1 description.

Hi Trevor,

The Mark 1 and Mark 2 tail posts are non ejecting and have access from the handle end, so if you have the Mark 1 or Mark 2 tail posts then simply stick a 10mm diameter rod into the open end and drift the chuck out with a little force. This should not damage the tail stock at all as the effort will all be on the tag end of the chuck.

Best regards,

Mike

And you don't have any bearings to crush!

Just have a hand on the chuck when you hit the bar, so it doesn't drop on the lathe bed. You'll get to know how hard to hit it after you have done it a few times.

Hobbymat md65 just bought cheap with a view to restoring back to working order ,firstly the jammed motor has been freed off due to oil paraffin mix .only to find bearings must be shot .other problem lay with the cross slide being very stiff in operation what would help to free off or make ease of operation .

First off, loosen the gib screws, remove and clean it then inspect the working faces of the cross slide and report back!

On the Hobbymat use brains not brawn when fitting the tool in the toolpost as the topslide distorts and binds if excess force is applied.

Search an read extensively around the forum as we have given advice on various threads about eg adjusting the saddle etc. for this lathe.
