Thomas, you are taking this far too seriously. It is all semantics anyway and I for one am not so far up myself to take myself seriously at all. In faxt, take anything I say with a pinch of salt!

Ian, I was referring to the dumb idea that not doing something for money makes an amateur incompetent.

Neil, I'm reminded of the old joke that when someone accuses you of being the president of the pedant society, you turn to them and reply, "Vice President actually!"

I have always seen the definition of "Professional" as "One who is paid" to do a job.

However looking at world wide politicians and many CEO's and some business owners who are raking in the $$$$$$. Yet stuffing up the world economy, life styles etc etc.

I have seen those who volunteer in roles of local community run sports, social clubs run them better un-paid. Mid you corruption still creeps in there too.

This post is not just about arguing about the accepted meaning of a rather inadequate word, it is about the wide variation in the ways of the people that attach to it. It is not just about semantics and the minutia of word meanings.

This and other similar posts here on this site with a philosophical undertone, clearly shows how diversified the interests and views of MEW readers are. from the publishers point of view I suspect it is enlightening for them and will assist in formulating the editorial content of the magazine.

From a personal perspective I find it interesting, life is indeed a rich tapestry.

I agree John. Quite energetic arguments are interesting providing it's kept polite and respectful.

Personally it would be interesting to know what flux is needed to weld moleskin trousers to armchairs.

Getting back to "Modeller" or "Not a Modeller" I think in many ways we are all "Modellers" of some description be it actual or in thought. I for one run many things through my mind before tackling them. I do on occasions draught on paper or PC or even make a solid object as a test run be it scaled or full size.

I have heard people called a model citizen, a model employee, a role model. If I recall Frank Lloyd Wright was classed as a model architect. Many a tradesman I have worked along side of classed as life models to follow.

John, your curiosity knows no limits!

Only yesterday you were enquiring about what to use to separate the bond between moleskin and upholstery, now you want to join them together.

Personally, it is making me nervous. Is there anything I need to know John as I think this preoccupation with Moleskin is a bit unhealthy. Smooooooooth!
