![]() 6137 forum posts 893 photos | The problem is "The Future" is drones, AI, blockchains, Robots, high technology the net and computers It's all going digital and connected 24/7 The gulf between rich and poor is going to grow even bigger as these new technologies kick in and go global A trade like a decent joiner will pay bills but will it buy you a house as well??
Glad I'm old, and I hope there's no reincarnation (We'd have to do it all over again?!? No thank-you!) Edited By Ady1 on 28/02/2018 11:37:34 |

Hopper, Can’t comment on first statement, but overhead valves (and even overhead cams) predate your side valve motorcycle engine by about thirty years ( 20, at least). Overhead valves are a passing fad I tell ya. |

![]() 3445 forum posts 62 photos | Forgetting all the social network stuff, internet or even it's use as a phone here are some of the things that a smart phone could do for you. 1. Torch 2. Camera (usefull for taking close up's of stuff you can't see very well in awkward places, like behind your lathe) 3. Magnifying glass. That a photo and zoom the image. Handy for reading the data plate on the underside of motors etc. 4. Portable memory. Picture of the model and serial number on your washing machine. 5. Tape recorder. 6. Spirit level. 7. Vibration meter. . . . . . . . etc etc If I go on any longer I'm going to have to go and buy one. regards Martin |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | 1). My old nokia even had a light. 2). I can use my ipad, my wife’s phone or the camera. 3). My wife has a microscope thingy , even. Uses it for investigating lace. 4). Sorry, but I don’t carry my washing machine around. I know exactly where it is! 5). Not sure how or why, but I have a perfectly good reel to reel if i really need to... 6). Got a few of those! 7). Does it tell you when the batteries are dead? If you went on, I would still use my wife’s, if really necessary. I spend the £350 (or more!) some spend, each year, on their phones, on more important things - like my Ipad Pro 12.9. Edited By not done it yet on 28/02/2018 12:56:54 |
