I am of course thinking back to the be beginning of time with regards the Internet, when Newsgroups where the forerunner of the Forums we use today.

My first use of genuine internet forums (ie not dial up public bulletin boards, which pre-date internet forums by at least another decade) in 1987 - so "beginning of time" feels about right! Some of this 'modern technology' isn't that modern at all. I also think that web based forums are very bloated and inefficient compared to a decent internet newsgroup. But I've been whining on about that for a decade... And why can I not get rid of that damn sidebar?

I love the responses, keep them coming.

MichaelG,

What the 'bleep' am I doing wrong as I used every method possible to get that YouTube link to work, including the 'Official' one on their site and the YouTube button above. It must be either an iPad thing, or brain cells.

BBcode is such a doddle to use in comparison.

Too many 'clicks', just as the BBC has added to their so called 'improved' iPlayer. Leave the 'bl@@dy' thing alone, it wasn't broken idiots! Just had to get that off of my chest, so have calmed down now promise.

I'm with you Steve,

Old codger is me, and now trying to learn how to do videos for YouTube.

Geoff - Some of us just don't know when it's time to give up on technology

Geoff,

I don't post on YouTube, so I can't help with the 'embedding' stuff ... but it's very simple to do what I did.

If we can stay on-line for a few minutes, let's go step by step.

O.K. ?

Thanks.

Geoff - ready for the off.

Edit:

It's the links on this Forum I'm having trouble with.

Assuming that Apple hasn't done something strange in the new iOS ...

The key to success is this icon

Contrary to one member's interpretation, this is NOT a BubbleCar ... It's an ' insert WorldWideWeb Link' icon.

'Giggle' but it certainly looks like one.

I have a problem when selecting in that black bar that appears hides that 'Bubble Car' unless I'm very quick in selecting.

Managed it on the 3rd attempt so let's see what the outcome is

My attempt at slowing the Singer start up speed.

That last post will do ...

Now go to your YouTube page and copy the URL

Then come back here and edit your post.

Select the word "Giggle"

Click the icon, and a box should pop-up

Paste in the URL

confirm, and save

.

Edit: messages crossed in the æther

Easy workaround is to insert a blank line above the quoted text.

[of course you shouldn't need to do this if you are linking in a new post]

have fun

Just noticed something interesting.

Both of our 'Forum Posts' totals have stuck at 4717 and 817.

Geoff - Always good to learn something new, it means the old brain is capable.

Edit:

Finger problem.

Never thought of that Michael - Ta.

I needed two blank lines, however, before that bar got out of the way.

Now see why Internet teaching is being used more and more, for distance learning.

Geoff - Can now attack video production with a clear mind

Why do we have these strange yellow cartoons ? Just erase them and all problems solved. Not as bad as some sites , yellow things jumping out at the screen, frightens the cat. Far to much rubbish cluttering up the airways and slowing things down.
