thank you to the people who have helped.

to those who have pulled my husband apart for his poor english, english is his third language.

He would like to say goodbye to you all as he assumes being non english he is not welcome on here judging by comments made about him.

Dear Mrs Naughtyboy

I think you have jumped to the wrong conclusion about your husband not being welcome here because that is certainly not the case.

Yes, some of the comment might have been critical of the grammar and spelling but all the readers see it what was written and cannot have any knowledge of the writer or the background facts. My remarks in the reply I gave were actually aimed at RW2 and were not intended to be critical.

The forum does offer the members the facility to give a little information about themselves, knowing someones location (or country at least) and hopefully their christian name makes it much easier for the person to give a helpful reply.

Please try to ignore thoughtless comments from people who should know better. I would think that most people, me included, understood the term "ally" as being some sort of aluminium alloy, so I responded with advice, not criticism, because I really didn't think that anything was wrong.

I'm afraid that open forums, such as this, tend to attract comments from people who apparently would rather criticise than to actually offer to answer the question.

Please don't leave, we're not all pedants.

Hello all, Im sorry to Naughtyboy if I caused offence and certainly didnt intend to, it was only a general rant !!!. Furthermore, if he can converse in three different languages, its two more than I can manage !!!.I think Ian Phillips has really explained it better than I have .

Anyway , if I dare offer advice after all that, Ive always turned aluminium dry, with a nice sharp HSS tool. sad

Hi naughtyboy & wife,

Spelling is not that important, it's content that counts.

We cannot afford to lose any members.

I, for one would be very interested to know what are your first & second languages.

Please give it another try.

Regards, Bear.. (71.5 years).

Hi Mrs Naughtyboy,

It's not your husband's problem, it's ours.

(Welsh, actually)

That swarf is also razor sharp as you no doubt know, but newcomers may not.

Quite so, and often pretty hot too, enough to burn the skin. The cast iron I was turning at the weekend was coming off red hot, you could see it glowing.

At least cast iron comes off as a powder, as Geoff suggests the spirals of swarf can be lethal. Two rules:

1. Never, ever try and remove swarf by hand while the lathe is running

2. Never try and get round the problem by wearing gloves, if the glove gets caught you'll be dragged into the machine

Regards,

Andrew

Mrs Naughtyboy

Since I was the person who started what was taken to be mockery perhaps you would take a moment to hear what I have to say now and reconsider you and your husband's decision to leave the forum.

Any mockery was self mockery at my own inability to keep up to date with what I believe is known as text speak and I feel that any similar comments were in the main equally lighthearted. I regret that you and others took offence where none was intended.

May I take the liberty of suggesting that you stay on the forum and continue asking your questions, which many who are perhaps reluctant to ask them themselves learn from. After all, it seems that you were offered plenty of advice on your original question.

To avoid any future offence being caused you may rest assured that I will no longer take part here.

I am asking my wife to write this to avoid confusion.

I believe i may have mis-understood comments made as people ridiculing my lack of writing skills.

I have never had those comments made about me.

Grizzly I am from traditional Romany Gypsy family so my first language is old Romany.

My dad had accident in Germany so we settled there for while before moving to UK.

Hello Mr & Mrs Naughtyboy,

Welcome back and thank you for the reply.

I think we have all learnt something.
