Arc Euro Trade used to list them, for M5, M6 and M8 Nut or stud types.

References were: 084 - 013 - 00040, 00050, 00063, for Nut types

084 - 013 - 10041, 10041, 10050, 10063 for Stud types.

But can't find them on the website, under these numbers.

A search on Indexaable Handles brings them up, but a search shows 15 types, as what like spares for SX Milling Machines..

Hi All, thanks for the replies.

Still struggling to find what I want at the right price.

John MC you are quite right about postage and VAT. Dereks link above has the ideal lever for my machine. Two @ £3.60 each is fine but with £9.99 delivery + VAT we have a WOPPING £20.30.

Cotel have a minimum order of £25 + VAT and postage and Bonehams only have M5 with a handle that is too long + VAT and £7 postage.

No M4 on ebay that I can find.

Hey ho, I'll keep trying.

Geoff

Howard, Arc sell the M6 lever for the z axis on the sx2p mill but no 4mm levers for the x and y axis

NO, Geoff.

I mentioned what Arc Euro had on offer. Stub Mandrel is looking for replacements for his SX mill, so that would seem to be the place to go.

If you are desperate for M4 handles, how about getting M5 or M6 stud type and stripping them? You can then turn them down to 4mm diameter and cut a M4 thread with a Die. Core diameter of M5 is 4.2mm, so the original thread will be gone.

If you are looking for Nut type, again, go for an oversize type, Make an externally threaded plug and drill and tap it M4.

Engineer comes from the Greek root which means ingenious. The Lord helps them as helps themselves!

Berger tools and WDS both show extensive ranges of these handles in male and female thread versions in pretty much all sizes from M3 upwards.

Hi Keith (Long)

Thanks for your reply.

WDS have just what I want 4mm thread and a short 30mm lever which will just fit the x slide.

Good value as well with postage at £5 not to bad either.

Well done Keith, a fellow Saltney lad helping me out.

I've just bought some of these from WDS, an excellent selection.

No minimum order but watch out for VAT and p&p.

I Stub finds that an offset boring head at exactly too-many rpm gets the tassels twirling nicely.

I wonder what the history is behind “Bristol Locking Levers” ?

Curiously, Vic ... it appears that ‘Bristol Lever’ refers to the style rather than the indexing arrangement.

... the term is also used for door handles, etc.

... maybe has something to do with ships ?

Perhaps when one has found and fitted the handles,
all would then be 'shipshape and Bristol fashion' ?

If there are any SX2P owners out there I can recommend these levers from WDS (if you haven't got them already).

Part number 8189- 19920

The WDS product looks excellent. However, I have just bought some well-priced handles from Axminster which seem perfectly fit for purpose.

I generally buy the female version since they can readily be used to produce custom male versions.

I think WDS used to sell BSW threaded but no longer do so.
