The thing that annoys me is when they charge more per unit weight for refill packs than for products in plastic bottles or dispensers. So the choice is between saving money or helping saving the planet.

Has no one realised that you are being saved from yourselves. Them in charge tell us that all this sweet stuff is bad for our health so we should eat less, hence smaller portions.
My whinge is with Nestle and their multi pack fruit pastilles. Used to get a 4 pack, on offer for a £1. Then the shelves were empty for a while. I did read in the press that Nestle were moving production to Continental Europe to minimise production costs. Now the multi packs are back on the shelves but as 3 packs and selling at £1. And that was before any gas price hike!!!
AND
I think optimum prices are set for 3 serving packs. Fine for families but not so good when the kids have fledged the nest

Remember when wagon wheels were about the size of a flat cap? Plenty for me and a bit left to share with the whippet and 2 polecat ferrets.

Wat is happening to this world wen you can't buy a decent large bar of chocolate and the nut size in the bar is reduced as well.

David

You are just not shopping in the right place, someone bought me one of these recently in return for a bit of machining. I'd call that a decent size bar,

Though the 1kg bags of "misshapes" they sell in the Cadbury outlet shops are a better buy.

I see that a post sneaked past our normally ever-dilligent moderators

I'm a huge lover of kefir (I know many people hate it). I used to buy it in 1L cartons for about £1.50.

These gradually moved to the 'ethinic (Polish) foods' section, hidden away as smaller 'boutique' versions arrived.

Eventually the proper Polish stuff disappeared, and even plain kefir is only available for about £1.50 for 200ml in a plastic bottle.

Tip 1 - take a small amount, add it to 4 pints of full cream milk, leave at room temperature for 4-5 days.

Tip 2 - don't use semi-skimmed milk by mistake, it ferments, but it is not the same.

Every Christmas, my "tin" of Cadbury's Roses gets smaller, now in plastic tubs. I know this as they are too useful to bin after consuming the contents.

Ah! Another reuser of biscuit and confectionery tins!

Soon, where will we go for our shims?

Sardine / Herring / Anchovy tins seem to be the only sources of small quantities of flat tin plate these days.

Cooking oil tins from your local Chinese. OK not dead flat, but big diameter, so not far off

I got a box of Black Magic chocs lately and Cadburys have stretched the spacing between the chocolates to the point of really taking us for a ride. Coupled with that, in a layer you will get two of several half decent chocs but four each of the rubbishy ones with a micrometer thin layer of chocolate on them.

All in a fancy box of course!
