Machinery hire?

I've seen what I can only describe as 'scoop lorries' picking up rubble from building jobs around here, a telescopic arm with a clamshell grab mounted on a big lorry. Not sure how far they reach, but ring a local skip hire chap, they will know someone who has one.

I watched the water company fitting a meter a couple of weeks ago. One man loosening the ground with a jack hammer and the loosened clods being sucked into a large truck. Suction pipe was likely a couple hundred mm in diameter. They finished the job in about an hour from start to finish, with most of the gang standing around when I passed by (three times).

We were on the North Norfolk coast last week. Now looking for a dent removal company after a roof tile tried to have a go at flying over our car ( and failed )

Just an update.

More in desperation than optimism, I phoned the NNDC yesterday morning. The usual multitude of options brought me, eventually, to a young man who had the remarkable talent to interface with potentially irate callers. He could not have been more conciliatory or helpful and assured me that he would process my query immediately and ensure that I got a response. In the middle of lunch, doorbell rings and a young lady said she was from the Council and was checking on our problem. She assured us we had been added to a list of affected properties and would definitely have the sand cleared in due course!

The exclamation mark of surprise is based on the previous reaction of the same Council when our house was destroyed in the 2013 storm. Totally 'chalk and cheese'! My innate cynicism says 'wait and see', but if things are as indicated I shall ensure that a letter of appreciation is sent. Maybe, ..... just maybe !

Jack thats a great result . Of course councils' "in due course" sometimes takes its own sweet time but at least you will not be out of pocket -- or out there at 85 with shovel in hand!

Could be worse,...........as in Dune de Pilat !

There used to be a similar 'mountain' of gravel on the other side, but that was all used up, set in concrete.
