Could do with one of those sparrowhawks round here, those pigeons keep perching on a branch above my car and using it as a toilet.

Looks like it made short work of it.

After the thread that turned into a red kite story a while back we now have song birds to contemplate! Quite a few closet twitchers here then...

No problem for me as I've always been interested in British birds and having been lucky enough to spend my formative years growing up in a rural part of Worcestershire I guess I take them for grated. We have just had two newly hatched robins arrive on the patio, the first we've seen this year.

Other parents are busy collecting all sorts to feed chicks and the wrens, song thrushes and blackbirds are in full song...

The resident Blackbird singing all day right up to dusk, even had the dog looking up into the Oak tree.

Squirrels already destroyed the Bkackbirds nest and the Blue Tits did not time their hatch right to coincide with the green caterpilar hatch so that brood failed.

Around here the Sparrow hawks take the Ring neck doves and from what i see only eat the brain and a bit of the breast. One often sits on the fence as if digesting a meal. Always alert though. There is a large area of wild wood to my South side where they seem to stay but as yet never seen a nest.

The nest box has been used this year by Blue Tits and they tolerated my presence. I spent an early morning trying to photograph them. One would approach the box from the end of a gutter four feet away. It stop that after almost being had by a Crow. Five days ago, while setting up silver soldering equipment (which is done outside), there were two fledglings who very rapidly disappeared into the bushes.

One of this years fledgling blueys, just for JA! This window is about a metre from their nest box so a very handy spot to contemplate it's first proper flight to the nearby tree...
