I am inspired by things that I could aspire to, given the time, opportunity and funds available.

Enthusiasm wanes if any one of those three are impossible to accommodate.

I might envy or admire other’s work, but an achievable target, and need, is required to follow in the footsteps of those previous inventors, designers or makers.

Speed is my inspiration all my life I have built models that are fast, currently I hold five British records and one world record. I am still building and racing them.

I keep mulling over whether to have a go at making a Triumph trident T150 engine, I have the full size version so a ready source of information.

Mike

Hi Mike, thats a great idea, ! I have seen some great models of bike engines and motorcycles as well.. Bert Whites 1.3. Blackburn as serialised, and others... or a later motomartin perhaps? Or les Worthington made a bsa gold think it was 1:4 scale or 1/3 ...me if you want some info!

Oh some nice uncomplicated! vee engine/ single appeared in me in the 90’s (Mr Wheeler) , and I am sure i did see a Tr 150? In a old me issue...oh just remembered a suzuki gs 550 !

Kind regards

vic

Many years ago a countdown device for the start of TV programs inspired me to build my Fibre Optic Clock. At the time of seeing the device, I had neither the time, or equipment to enable me to build the clock, and over the years the idea of just how I would go about making it changed many times. It took about 40 years before I finally got the time and equipment to make a start. As the thing was made almost entirely from scrap, it then took about 4 years to complete, because I often had to wait for the right size lumps of brass to arrive at the scrapyard. The end results can be found in the clock section.

Model Engineering wise the things that inspire me most are the beautiful models built by Cherry Hill.

What inspires me - seeing a highly detailed model in a working condition. Watch & clock makers come close too. I take my hat off to them...
