I hope not, it's so much nearer to me at Donny and in my opinion a much better venue all round.

I didnt get chance to exhibit this year but if it does go back to harrogate I wont be able to exhibit again as travelling that far to set up is not an option.

He told us it has cost him Aus $11000 to do the round trip and have the model air freighted over with insurance etc.

My first trip to Donny, on Friday and thought it was a very good xbn. Well worth long road flog from Sunny Sussex. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Some excellent models, tools, clocks.

For those who couldn't find the blower, it's the casing sticking out under the front of the radiator. It's a supercharger worked off the crankshaft, not a turbocharger so a lot less pipework.

Two '8' cross-section rotors inside it work like a pair of two-tooth gears.

More photos later.

I hobbed the gears for Mike's Bentley blower engine supercharger, it was about eight or nine years ago but the wait has been worth it to see the finished result.

It will either inspire all of us to do better model engineering, or just give up and take up knitting or something. !!

Fantastic photos Hollowpoint, good spread of disciplines. Is the machine tool a drill sharpening jig I wonder?

Thanks for the images, I couldn't get this year so it's great to see so many photos on here.

Best regards Mick

Thanks, I just took pictures of the stuff I liked no real reasoning behind what I photographed. All these images where taken on a mobile phone believe it or not! Just shows how far they have advanced. You are correct the tool is for sharpening drill bits. A nice design I think.

If I remember correctly it was a four facet drill sharpening device.

I spoke to Graham Astbury about the drill sharpener (it was a design in MEW, I'm afraid I forget whose). He's identified a way it can be improved and is planning a major rebuild, with an eye to writing it up.

Is the 1/3 scale Bentley being built by Mike (or is it Malcolm) Sayers?

I asked because there is an employee of Bentley Motors (who is very much involved with the original of that car) of the same name.

Does anyone know when the next show will be. Is it in May 2020 in Harrogate?

Thanks,

Harry
