Clive, perhaps because the flats provide clearance for the tool when turning smallish diameters. Emgee

1/32" - 2" dia Good link from KWIL I'm amazed by the number and types of rivets supplied by this Birmingham based company, if they don't list a suitable rivet for your job I would be surprised. Emgee |

Curtis I have found 2011 Free cutting to be the easiest to machine, it comes off in chips just like cast iron but I don't know the qualities. I find 6082T6 (HE30) machines well but if not careful with toolshape, speed and feed rate can be stringy as if the chipbreaker is not working, despite this it is my most used aluminium. Link below is a DCMT070202 cutting 6082T6 Emgee Edited By Emgee on 16/01/2017 14:57:55 |

Hi Bill, you could use round small diameter toolsteel in a purpose made holder similar to the Diamond tool holder from Eccentric Engineering who advertise in the RH column of this page. Emgee |

Michael W, I am not sure it would be a good idea to use a 20mm cutter to rough out any material on a FB2 even though they are pretty useful machines. I think an ER25 collet chuck would be adequate for the FB2 and provide collet sizes up to 16mm if you really want to push to the limits. I use a mixture of ER25 and ER16 chucks on an F1, the smaller nose size of the ER16 is useful with std reach cutters in tight places. Emgee

Hi Nick The dowel jig does what it says as you are unlikely to want a dowel hole too close to the end of a chipboard shelf or end panel. The metal jig shown earlier allows the hole to be drilled or marked at the very end of the bar. Emgee |

I would dig out my odd leg scriber if the dro was not available on the mill. If the tool is made accurately when closed on the strip the hole for drilling or marking through will always be on the centre line of the strip, no further measuring needed. Far simpler than setting up an odd-leg but I guess we all have our preferred methods. Emgee |

Les, the 40Mohms resistance reading motor case to live conductor (with an ohmeter) it would have been interesting to see the test result with a 500v insulation tester. Emgee

I use a home made mist block, more small droplets than mist but can be directed exactly where needed, it does need a low pressure/quantity air supply to function. Full details in my Picture album, the following link shows the block with a description. http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/sites/7/images/member_albums/87760/581408.jpg Similar type units are now very low cost (£5-£8) inc postage from ebay sellers. Good advice Geoff but don't forget to test the RCCB for correct functioning if the Test button is operated, or alternatively call in an electrician to test the device with a dedicated meter for time and current test function. Emgee |

Glowing dimly tube heater element in older style fluroescents was usually caused by the switch being connected into the neutral and not line conductor. The incorrect polarity at the switch would be discovered when testing the circuit. Emgee

Toby. . I'm giving up now. You on the other hand could go on for ever answering comebacks from people with just enough dangerous knowledge in their possession to keep making comebacks. This is one of the reasons I've not (and many others that have made themselves known to me) have not posted here for a couple of years.I'm in no way painting everyone with the same brush, but the term 'babies playing with loaded guns" springs to mind. Hi Rik The solution to the problem you describe is to use the "Ignore member" button at the bottom of the posting, then you don't have to see any of the mainly misinformed rubbish the most prolific writer (on all subjects) keeps posting. And before ANYBODY starts shouting about the onsite guide, that is ALL it is, , a guide. I look at certificates where the column asking for the " max Zs permitted under BS7671" is put down as one of the figures from a table in the onsite guide. TOTALLY WRONG. Edited By Rick Kirkland 1 on 08/01/2017 09:51:16 Hi Rick If the Zs table (A41.1to A41.6?) in the on-site guide is copied from and the same as that included in BS7671 why is it wrong to enter the Max Zs permitted for the cct by reference to a table of values ? provided of course the correct part of the table is selected for the type and rating of the protective device and maximum disconnection time for the cct. The cct measured Zs value will be written in the relevant column in the test readings to check compliance. Emgee |
