Just a reminder for safety in the workshop in the New Year.

Don't forget to check that your fire extinguisher is in the green on its' gauge. If you don't have one, get one.

A phone you can call out on in a medical emergency is a good idea in the workshop. You can turn off the ringer so you are not interrupted, but still dial out if need be.

A small first aid kit with disinfectant, band-aids, a large dressing pad, and long bandage gauze and tape, at a minimum is a handy thing.

Safety eyewear is a must for many ops in the workshop. You can get them with bifocal magnifiers now too!

A smoke alarm in the workshop, connected to the house smoke alarm system, is a good thing to have.

A leak test with a brush and soapy water on all propane tank fittings and hose connections is a good idea yearly.

Clean dust off electric heater housings and elements to reduce fire hazard.

Good luck, JD

Good advice Geoff but don't forget to test the RCCB for correct functioning if the Test button is operated, or alternatively call in an electrician to test the device with a dedicated meter for time and current test function.

Never put your fingers where you would not put your 11th appendage!

Good tip lambton. I wouldn't want to get my nose trapped in a machine. Lol

I am very surprised that no mention is made of protection for the feet, we are often moving heavy objects that would do a lot of damage if dropped on them!

Safety footwear is relatively cheap and well worth the investment.

And I cut my finger on a broken tap this afternoon. Pure stupidity.

Had to go to the kitchen to wash it and put a sticky plaster on it. Still bleeding.

This subject begs the question:

Which type of extinguisher do you actually have in there?

Two malc a dry powder one and a carbon dioxide one. Probably the best for electrial fires etc.

A Halon 1211

I could do with false paperwork to get it re charged since the inmates have taken over the asylum and stopped you and I from buying Halon extinguishers
