Thread: Whats the best mini mill? |
15/04/2015 13:47:39 |
I have a SIEG X1L supplied by ArcEuroTrade. Excellent Mill, Excellent Service (Pre and Post Sales) Delivery was on the day quoted. Well worth giving them a ring. Dave |

Ray, It looks like 2 separate switches as they provide different functions. I would not replace them with a pot, but if you did you would need to insert a resistor in series with it to provide a minimum resistance.(equal to the lowest value of the current ones) Dave |
Thread: do i need reverse |

I know it is an outside chance but worth a try, have you phoned Warco to see if they have a spare? Dave

Thread: Fusable plug for 5" gauge |
15/04/2015 10:30:32 |
I don't think the plug would reseal if you filled it with Solder or (usually) White-Metal as it would drop into the fire as it melts and the pressure would tend to blow it into the fire as well. Dave

Thread: 16mm IDRIS |

Hi Alex, You must never use Brass for boiler bushes etc. where it is in contact with the copper and the water. Brass will slowly decompose (de-zincification) and your boiler will eventually fail. (In fact a boiler inspector may fail the boiler if submitted for testing) Therefore you must use Bronze for the Water-Gauge bushes.

Thread: Any Aussie subscribers here? |

I gave up and went digital as i had e few issues go missing - probably Australia Post delivered to wrong address as i get a lot of mail from other addresses turning up here usually same house number but different street. Now i have every issue with me to view when ever i want as long as i have signal on my mobile broadband ! Bliss !!!!!!
If you are using 'Offline' PocketMags Reader, then you can download the copies to your PC/iPad etc, then you won't need a internet connection when you want to refer back to an issue. Dave |
Thread: boiler cerrtificates |
14/01/2015 21:19:24 |
Maxitrax can and do issue boiler certs with a new/second hand loco's that they sell, you can also pay them to perform a boiler test. This is a Commercial Boiler Test .... so some clubs will accept them (mine does) but some won't. So ... Yes they can test boilers and issue a cert. They have the same validity period as a Fed one. Thread: Which wire to use |
06/01/2015 15:12:57 |
Normal Speaker Cable is not suitable .. you need something that will carry 20-30 Amps at 0-5 or so volts. Not at home at moment so cannot look up what to use ... some form of High Current Extra-Flexible cable I suspect. Dave |

Thread: Magazine Archives and Frustration with MyTimeMedia Support |
02/12/2014 23:52:04 |
I have Digital subscriptions to both ME and MEW and have no problems. I assume that your subscriptions are DIGITAL, in my case the Subscriber number is the same for both Magazines and is 8 digits long. (I had to drop off the 2 leading zero's) I assume that the email address you gave when subscribing is the same that you sign onto the site as -- The email address and subscriber number are checked. Other than that . I can't offer anything else. (I do agree that the subscription department is as much use as a chocolate teapot) Dave |
Thread: Boiler thickness and pressure |
23/10/2014 21:44:49 |
Looking at the drawings for the loco's I have or am building ... 3.5" gauge CONWAY - 4" Dia : 13 gauge Tube 3.5" gauge LILLA - 4" Dia : 13 gauge Tube 3.5" gauge DARJELLING - 4 3/4" Dia : 1/8" Tube
So 16 Gauge at an even larger diameter than above seems way too thin for me.

Thread: Obtaining a missing subscription copy |
16/10/2014 17:37:45 |
When MyTimeMedia screwed up my Direct Debit which caused me to miss a couple of issues, they couldn't (or wouldn't) supply me the missing copies ..... I had to get them off EBay Dave |

Neil, Will Digital Subscribers be able to download it? Dave |
Thread: Second class digital subscription |
13/10/2014 16:33:56 |
I think if you order through iTunes your contract is with PocketMags and not with ME/MEW ... So ME/MEW may not know that you are a subscriber. If you take a Digital only subscription with ME/MEW then you don't get a free gift. (Free gifts are only given for Paper or 'Paper+Digital' subs) Dave

This has come up a few times in the past .... The only solution is to cancel your current subscription (or wait for it to expire) and take a new one out through this Web Site. Dave
