Thread: Boiler Marking/serial number |

If you are going to make any indentations into the boiler fabric I would have thought the best place would be on the firebox wrapper along the foundation ring. Just saying. |

All the more reason to consider migration to a Linux distro and Open Source applications. It gives those into programming to keep an eye on what it's internals are doing. |

If it happens to be an interference engine I'd not take the risk of a home-brew belt. |

Many thanks for all the suggestions. I'm sure the solution is there. |

Not so much a thread but I've been asked to make some single layer coil formers for an amateur radio application using my clunky old S7. To prevent the wire moving I'm proposing to machine a shallow semi-circular groove at a similar pitch to the wire diameter. In this case the insulated wire is 1.3mm O/D. I've got a pretty comprehensive collection of change wheels including a 127 tooth. Accepting I mustn't open the half nuts, can anyone suggest a change wheel set-up to cut that pitch or very slightly coarser.. |
Thread: Myford Super 7 Reservoir front bearing oiler information |
17/08/2015 17:47:30 |
I'm reassured to discover what I've been doing for years because it just "seemed" right is pretty much the same as others. |

It'll never work properly until the laughing shaft is connected to the giggling pin. |

Has anyone made their own patterns? I'm interested in knowing if they were done separately or as a set and how the risers and in gates were set out. I haven't yet made patterns for the UPT but I have for the VDH. (I have a spare set of castings here at the moment). Gating should not be anything to worry about. The foundry will sort that out for you, in fact, from personal/professional experience I've found no two foundries work alike. . . . . . .The frames and horns are not as the full-size 9Fs, which had the horns affixed to the outside face of the frames. . . . . . . Not strictly correct. The 9Fs along with the other larger BR standards had the frames centred over the horns. A clear example may be seen where the horns can be seen being welded centrally into the frames of Hengist at http://www.72010-hengist.org/hengist-components/frames?start=40 This feature was also common to DoG (71000), the Brits (70XXX) and Clans (72XXX) |

Apologies for highjacking the thread but can someone recommend the best place/price for circa 200 x 3/16" snap head ali rivets? |

Sorry it's a bit out of focus but you get the gist on how bad a state the pin is in after whacking the bearing out.
Job done and paint unmarked, another pie and a pint. Edited By John Stevenson on 30/06/2015 01:34:10 Significantly quicker than try to spark it out. |

Shame Linux isn't supported. Especially when they provide a LinuxCNC post processor. Guess I'll just have to reinstall W7 on my machine as dual boot. Russell; Would it be possible to get it to run with WINE? |

You probably want a D-humidifier rather than a humidifier in the workshop. I've found the D ones best, the C humidifiers are too small and the E humidifiers are too big. (sorry) JD Schoolboy snigger, |

For self amalg tape, when applying stretch it so it goes to a half of its original width. Lot easier to say then to do! Frank By all means stretch it slightly as you apply it but I'd not recommend stretching it that far. It sounds like any advice you received to use it that way was trying to avoid the use of the PVC tape over-wrap to apply pressure. |
