Thread: Bandsaw speed
01/05/2019 19:15:55

Is it a Inca saw?

I use my Inca for cutting non ferrous materials with no adjustments

You cant really speed control that motor

replace motor with 3 phase or bring the motor off and use pulleys to slow it down if you think you need to

Thread: joining green laminated belt
27/04/2019 14:59:59

Though if you just clamp your scarfed joints into 2 slices of alloy and hold it at 100 c for 30 mins you should be good to go

27/04/2019 14:58:57

You probably have a habisat belt

this the official kit that they recommend.

Thread: Building a Belt grinder - advice please.
25/04/2019 13:59:10

Peter

i went for the 1440 rpm motor so i can run it from 20hz to 100hz Or 570 rpm to 2800 rpm

so with my 200mm driving wheel i can go from 361metres/min to 1758 m/m (that’s 100km/hour)

Its been very useful so far i have built a mop shaft to take 200mm dia mops or wire wheels taking the drive with a rubber flat belt

25/04/2019 11:01:36

I built a 2x 72 grinder using a 3 phase 2hp motor 1440 rpm driven from VFD so variable speed

It can be stalled easier than i thought or rather the over current trip on the vfd trips out

I used a pallet truck wheel as the driver so 200mm dia

Thread: Anyone got a hydrogen generator?
14/03/2019 10:07:00

John R

it certainly looks well made

its like a small welder 30cm x 20 x 20cm and weighs 5 kg empty

i’ve only done edge polishing but the flame looks good enough for precision heating of small parts/jewellery etc

it runs for about 20 seconds and then switches off on a pressure switch then cycles on/off as you use the produced gas

Well i filled it with my mix of 150g naoh and 1 litre of water and filled the booster with methanol as directions and it certainly works well.

as said teh flame is very hot and virtually invisible though it polished some 15mm Perspex edges very well..

How long should i leave the electrolyte in? And if it should be removed can i save it and reuse?

It was only £110 delivered from Belgium by ups

Has anyone got one of these hydrogen generators i bought it for acrylic edge smoothing but seems it can be used for small repairs on jewellery etc

it came with some naoh 500grms.the instructions say make up a 15% solution..so that’s 150gr of naoh to 1 litre of water?

anyhow does anyone use one and have any operating tips?

Thread: Telephone / Internet Scams
18/02/2019 07:59:43

I had a call the other day re stopping unwanted calls.

the Indian sounding woman was most insistent that I was responsible for the landline bill and I was a homeowner and younger than 85.

i responded with well I’m 87

call ended immediately

whats the method in only targeting under 85 year Olds?

Thread: Overload trip
08/02/2019 21:06:03

Remember that the current draw for this motor is only 33mA so even a fuse will struggle to protect that

I’d agree that some way of detecting a stoppage would be best

Thread: depleted batteries

I saw a video on YouTube about someone with the same problem

He discharged them (if not already) then put them in the freezer for 24 hours then let them defrost well then recharge in the normal way

Then all was good (apparently)

Thread: Unusual Tool
02/12/2018 11:26:28

looks like a leather cutter you place the shoe on the work press with your palm on the knob and the blade comes down and just goes under the material and cuts as you glide the tool along your cutting line..

does that seem plausible as i’ve Not seen the blade
