The other complaint about clear bags is the people can see what your hobbies are and therefore what you may have to steal.!

Jason

That is really the basis of my request. No need to advertise unnecessarily, particularly when your mail can sit all day in a box at the end of your driveway. There’s no post it through the door in NZ

As far as I know all of EKP's ones are fully threaded, at least all the ones I have bought are and I have all the lengths they do. That is why they call them screws and not bolts.

BA Bolt sell some part threaded hex bolts see bottom of page but only do the prefered even numbers

Edited By JasonB on 20/12/2017 19:54:02

You could ask Mark at BA Bolts if he would be prepared do some for you. I guess it would depend on how many you want and how much you were prepared to pay.

Sorry, no - they get stolen too often in transparent bags!

Neil

Edited By Neil Wyatt on 20/12/2017 18:40:38

They arrive in NZ in clear bags. They used to arrive in the grey bags and I'd preffer to go back to the grey bags. I guess you bulk ship to an agent over here who then distrubutes for you

Maybe you could advise them that Mytime media would preffer for them to use grey bags wink

Thread: HMS Queen Elizabeth: Leak found on new aircraft carrier
19/12/2017 19:46:20

Its undergoing sea trials, which is about testing all the systems.

After being told many times in the RAF, "just get it tested and flying again". I'd point out that the main purpose of testing was to find out what isn't working, not necessarily to find out what is working. Therefore, the assumption must be something could be wrong that will require fixing, which will take time.

In fact, if you test something and don't find a problem you must seriously consider if your test plan is flawed.

So the Navy have been testing and found a problem. Good job!! Now a case of doing the risk analysis, and deciding whether to fix the seal, re-design and fix all the other seals as well, install bigger pumps, monitor or just ignore.

Thread: PCB CNC
09/12/2017 21:19:19

I realise that this is something you may want to do in persute of your hobby, but if its just a PCB you are requiring then you may want to try this approach.

Design your board using the free Eagle Light PCB design software, generate the necesary gerber files and place an order with PCBCart. The limits of Eagle in free mode are 100mm x 80mm. I've just got PCBCart to quote for a double sided, through plated, silk screened board of that size and they are quoting US$36 for 5 boards, of prototype standard, shipped with 5 days turn around. As they say, here's one I did earlier...

I've binned my own PCB making capability. It just isn't worth the effort these days.

Thread: Cheap Remote Cameras
26/11/2017 23:27:31

Its interesting that when you google FPV systems you get very few complete systems but lots of components. Probably one of those geeky areas of tech where plug and pray is the norm.

Beware of using a monitor if you plan to use it outside, the screen could well washout in the sun. The only problem with the mobile phone control of 'Dynobox' is seeing the screen in sunlight. There again I'm in sunny NZ and you are in the UK so it may be less of a problem.

TBH I think Hobbyking shoot themselves squarely in the foot because unless you know what you want to buy their tiered menu is almost impossible to navigate.

Neil

Hopefully you'd have some idea why you were on the site?

If you click the top level of the tiered categories menu it takes you to a page with the sub menu items laid out. If you sort of know what you want (say) a camera go to the top right search box and enter 'camera' ignore the popup selection it provides and select search (magnifying glass icon).

If you are suggesting you are spoilt for choice on 'say' FPV transmitter systems 1.2Ghz, 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz and then whether you want 10mw, 20mw ....800mw then you'll have to resort to Google and do your homework.

Surely not much different than searching for something on Radio Spares or Element14, you do need a starting point.

As I said before you'll probably get distracted, after my posting last night I end up wandering around the HK site and found myself looking at a gyro stabilised unicycle for only $300 and then remembered how old I am.........

Sam suggested Hobby King. Here's their FPV page **LINK**

However, be aware that if you go over to the website you are guaranteed to buy something and it probably won't be what you went there for in the first place.

A lot of empty space in there, what else could it be used for?

Thought, I have an equivalent to the Crusader and the manual has a pictorial breakdown of the lathe. What does your manual show?

Pete

(now off to the Chester site to see what other models offer in that space)

Jason

Thanks, I'll send him an email with the info so he has it if he is able to assist.

I had promised Dianne that I would provide the files for the DynoBox article on the website once the final part for Mk2 was published. It turns out I can't give you the files via the website so if you'd like them please PM me your email address. (Alternativley I could give the to a moderator to post on my behalf as they can do stuff us mortals can't)

Of course, if you have any questions here is also the place to ask them.

Doubletop,

I used to buy a fair bit from CTC, when he shipped direct from China, but since he was ( I think ) forced to do business from Europe, I've found the postage costs negate any savings previously made, at least on small orders.

John

I found the postage a little dear but when it turned up 48 hrs later and fully insured i didn't mind paying it and it was still cheaper than buying here in OZ .

I haven't used them since they moved a few years back .

Moved? Off their website a few moments ago

We are located at:
Rm13, 13F, World-Wide Ind. Centre, 43-47 Shan Mei Street, Fotan Shatin NT, Hong Kong

The owner Heine Johst could well be located in Europe but the goods come direct from HK, no need to double handle
