Thank you for that link MichaelG, I share your satisfaction.
In recent developments, living in France I look at the BBC's news offerings (BBC.com/news ) to keep me informed. BBC.com now asks for my permission to share my data with their 'partners' to allow targeted ads. This requires me to scroll down and de-activate seven fields of 'legitimate interest' and unlike more user-friendly sites who ask the same permissions, they do not offer a 'refuse all' button.
A 'nag screen' I believe, hoping that users will 'accept' out of botheration. I will continue to be 'bothered'

According to my records, august 1961, 4issues, contained only 100 and 200-series page numbers, not 716.
Can you clarify ? which loco ?

Brings back memories as a youngster of a floral clock in Stanley Park in Liverpool, sometime around 1949/1950, had no awareness at that time of any associated movement.

Another (desperate ) solution at the last knockings on a Maid of Kent boiler and the gas bottle is freezing up, is to enlist a helper to grab hold of the top of the bottle and give it a continuous good rocking. (from experience )

Purely by chance, I had been reading ME from 2000 and there is an article with diagrams of this very car.
Will check if OK to scan and put the pages in my album (copyright and all that ).

I assume that, just as when entering ports worldwide, the ship is under the command of the local pilots, who instruct the ship's crew..

Something which caught me out on the starter-motor on MrsD's mk1 Cortina in the early '70s. Go to start and Brrrrrp/Brrrrp/Brr-engage and start. I became quite adept at replacing the Bendix gear on the motor, 20mins job.
Wasn't until many years later I read a piece which mentioned that the motor-mounting bolts were 'stretch-fitted' on original assembly and after removing/re-using could not be relied upon to not stretch further in service.

No, that's great for marking metal for layout/scribing/cutting lines/ centre-punch dots etc.

I have had the tube of this for 50yrs and not used up yet. marking blue, generally available from various suppliers.
The slightest coating of this on one part and move the two parts together and see where the blue has been removed from one part, this is the 'high spot' that needs attention.

Slightly different, 'what's my line' and wonder if there are any remaining "sagger-makers bottom-knockers" still working in the Potteries ?

Ligne also = French/Swiss measure of diameter of watch movements, also 'French Inch'
