Hi all,has anyone ever bought any brushes for the motor on a Warco WM250 lathe,if so can you tell me the part number or the size when new,as I'm desperate need of a set (job in chuck no motor).

Hi all, I really didn't  think that I would get this much reaction,but maybe an OT forum would go down well.It seems to work on other sites that I use these are mainly motorcycle based,and they seem popular with the users.

Hi all,couldn't find a general discusion forum so I have posted here.Has anyone else noticed that the quality of most household and to a certain extent more toward the budget end tooling is diabolical,eg.you have to almost repair it before it will do what it is intended for.I have bought a wooden toilet seat (need a bit of warmth in winter) from a large DIY chain  the fittings were brassed aluminium with "tapped" 6mm holes had to re-tap the holes before the studs would fit ok so it was cheap,but even so I shouldn't have to do this,I also bought a new shower hose,this it was said would fit all 1/2 fittings no it wouldn't,so it was out with the BSP taps and a file to make it work. A couple of 10 minuite jobs turned into a couple of hours! all the time I was asking myself why can't thing just fit/work properly first time.Am I turning into a grumpy old man?

I am planning to build the tool and cutter grinder as per MEW issue 159,in the construction it calls for a length of ground silver steel or stainless steel for the support column,as I have a small budget what do others think about using a "chunk" of motorcycle fork leg as they are hard chromed and ground to size and are very stiff.Also I have some to hand!

Thread: Warco WM250 headstock lubrication

Hi all,has anyone fitted a headstock lubrication system to a Warco WM250 lathe? Because the only way to lubricate the two taper rollers is to dismantle the whole spindle assy,which is far from satisfactory.I have a pair of drip feed oilers which I was planning on fitting but..................the way the bearings are fitted seems to preclude this idea.Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks for the info,but not using a plating shop as I have my own nickel plating set-up but I need to know the caustic soda / water mix ratio so I can "reverse" plate the items.

Hi all,does anyone have any information about stripping  chrome plating off steel parts.I have heard about using caustic soda/distilled water and "plating"it off using a 6V DC.power source and a steel electrode,but I can't find any reference to the dilution ratios.I am needing to remove chrome off some old motorcycle parts prior to re-plating with nickle.

Hi all does anyone know if JB cutting tools are still going,I have tried to ring them but their phone does not accept incoming calls.They used to have a stall at the Newark autojumble,but I have not seen them there for a few jumbles. A web address would be good.

Hello all,has anyone got any modification ideas for this lathe,the main reason being as the lathe is made down to a budget the gears don't have enough clearance so rub together.I had thought of re-manufacturing the gear mount spindles with bronze distance pieces and using nuts to hold them onto the spindles instead of the standard "e" type clips.Also would fitting grease nipples to the spindles as opposed to the oil points be a good idea (the oil tends to get on the drive belt).Any ideas would be welcome.
