Change wheel modifications

![]() 634 forum posts 9 photos | Hello all,has anyone got any modification ideas for this lathe, the main reason being as the lathe is made down to a budget the gears don't have enough clearance so rub together.I had thought of re-manufacturing the gear mount spindles with bronze distance pieces and using nuts to hold them onto the spindles instead of the standard "e" type clips. Also would fitting grease nipples to the spindles as opposed to the oil points be a good idea (the oil tends to get on the drive belt).Any ideas would be welcome.

The washers that go between the banjo and paired gear wheels are fractionally different thicknesses, get them the wrong way round and the gears will rub.
