Can you post photos of it ?

I bought one when they were available several years ago, and I can't fault it. I removed the small canister and put a siphon hose on the stem leading to a bucket full of sand; it works a treat.

Hmmm, I didn't realize that discarding photos made just to reply to a thread would result in them disappearing in posts when deleted from an album.

My surface grinder doesn't have a coolant catching tray, but this may work for you ?

A spray bottle from Wilkie's or the pound shop and a piece of fish tank hose could be a simple solution to your issue, which costs almost nothing. Affix it to a convenient location, and add a small clamp to the trigger mechanism and you're in business.

Consider keeping a watch on the gumtree site, there are usually dozens of bench vices listed, and perhaps some close by. More than likely you will find what you want, and for less than what you budgeted for.

I'm not telling.

I have a Boxford AUD lathe, 327 marked collets, and a collet closer for them. The couple of odd 3C collets I had from overseas awhile back had a different thread size and would not fit the closer.

Another solution might be to get a cut off from a piece of PVC facia board or window sill, etc., from a local supplier.

If no supplier is nearby, you might be able to find what you need at the recycling centre in your area, or at a building site skip.

Get some plastic cutting boards, check out the Pound shops, Sainsbury, or similar shops.

Currently there is an Elliott vertical milling & boring machine listed on the " premier.co.uk " site which might fit your purpose.

I love my shaper, so much so, that It was one of the few machines that I shipped half way across the world. Wish I had also brought my Clausing lathe and other tools here; but that's another story. If you have the opportunity to acquire a good shaper, go for it. They're not making them any more, and like other quality machinery of yesteryear, becoming more difficult to find as time goes by.

A milling machine can also double as a drill press. Do you have a drill press taking up room in your shed ?, If so, that space could possibly be used for a Shaper instead.

Sad I know, but I wonder..... is there a Guinness Book world record for the longest swarf chip ?

You can get a better hammer for "free" in a packet of Walkers Toffee.

Follow the money trail. As long as there is the ability to produce diesel & petrol fuel, it will be sold and consumed somewhere. The world air currents don't recognise borders or government bans.

As for a good use, I remember back in California my Dad use to sell them on the cattle boats when he went Rock Cod fishing, it covered the cost of the trip. He would roll a cigarette while walking around the boat seeing what everyone else was using for a weight, then put a sash weight that was marginally heavier on his line. At the first drop, his jigs hit the bottom first, and rarely got tangled as he was winding up the fish while the other lines were still on the way down; the torpedo shape probably helped. Funny thing, he just about always won the jackpot for the most or largest fish. All I ever won was a bout of sea sickness, lol.

We also tried machining the sash weights, but without luck, there seemed to be a lot of slag in them.

Took apart the as new Etalon height gage I was fortunate enough to acquire, cleaned what I could in the ultra sonic, and painted the base my favourite green from a treasured tin of very old stock "One Shot" brand sign painters paint.

A little stainless steel bowl with a hole punched in its base could make a very nice reflector.
