I want to rivet thin brass sheet for a 16 mil narrow guage size loco body but am not sure of the practicalities..I thought of making a flat drill but for 1/16 rivets, maybe not..
Wonder if anyone could tell me what the thinnest brass I could use to drill without damaging it.
Thank you Jonathon

I got caught once ,fortunately not much money involved, awaiting delivery of something I saw it on anorher seller site already sold..What annoyed me most was my negative feedback never appeared..How do they do that?
I had a bit of a fright again when having won a first class little Flexispeed miller from an equally first class seller I saw the same machine on Tony Griffiths lathe site..The seller had put them there not the other way round!

A change from which lathe should I buy-which traction engine should I build?I had thought of the PYRTE but dont want to get involved until everything is tried and tested..
The PYRTE proncipal is what I m looking for though where I can buy, hopefully cheaper, and easy to machine gunmetal etc instead of cast iron
.I wonder if any of the Hobbystore engines would be suitable..Thank you

Thats very good..Wish my little lathe did tapers!I was wondering about cutting the top off, leaving the narrow part the right lenght then welding a little blank on and use a die for the thread..Then I realised I need a straight shank with a 0mt to get it in the lathe chuck to turn it .I m on the trail of a short one..

I ve been told Sherline,Cowells and Unimat arent proper 0 mt..they ve been altered..I phoned the firms and they told me! I suppose it stops people buying cheaper ones from other firms just like camera firms uesd to do with films..
I wonder if I buy a dead centre , which is available, is it going to be possible to turn the end down on this mini mini lathe and use a die on it..It s tool steel?
