thin brass sheet

23 forum posts	I want to rivet thin brass sheet for a 16 mil narrow guage size loco body but am not sure of the practicalities..I thought of making a flat drill but for 1/16 rivets,maybe not.. Wonder if anyone could tell me what the thinnest brass I could use to drill without damaging it. Thank you Jonathon

25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles	I've done tenders in 22swg brass with no problem. you should be able to come down to 28swg easy enough with a standard drill

168 forum posts 12 photos	I’ve had no problems with 28swg brass using a 1.6mm (1/16&rdquo standard drill - Usually I clamp between two heavier gauge sheets, The top one being the marked out pattern (usually predrilled if working freehand on the bench drill) and the bottom sheet (usually aluminium) to support the drill on its run out.
