You see it all the time on auto mart - the same vehicle up for sale at slowly diminishing offer price until someone takes the bait and bites. It’s called fishing, a Dutch auction or (by computer) phishing? No, not really, phishing is "The fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers".

Having been stung a couple of times I now won't buy or sell anything of more than very minor value outside the EU and I don't use eBay's dreadful Global Shipping Program. Don't find I'm losing out much - if at all. Roger Edited By Roger Provins 2 on 10/12/2017 10:21:22 |

Hello Roger, R.S. Components is the current name for the organisation. It used to be Radiospares and they changed to RS about 40 odd years ago (I stand to be corrected on when the change happened!). Andrew. I remember their catalogue which needed several large volumes and that we received several editions each year. There always seemed to be piles of the things. Roger

"Take a retired person on a basic OAP which I think is about 580 pounds for round figures per month divide that by 4 to get a weekly income and we get 145 pounds Now divide that by 38,the hours in a working week and we finish up with 3.82 pounds per hour you are being paid So next time you spend 3 hours pissing about with a 50p article it has actually cost you 11.45 pounds" But it doesn't work like that. I get my pension whatever I do or don't do. Whether I surf the net, read this forum or I'm in my workshop making swarf it has no affect on my income. |

Roger you do, time isn't free Take a retired person on a basic OAP which I think is about 580 pounds for round figures per month divide that by 4 to get a weekly income and we get 145 pounds Now divide that by 38,the hours in a working week and we finish up with 3.82 pounds per hour you are being paid Anyone with extra income from other pensions will get subsequently more. So next time you spend 3 hours pissing about with a 50p article it has actually cost you 11.45 pounds So how much did it cost you to write that? |

Libre Office and OpenOffice are fine for home use, but (having tried) I wouldn't want to rely on them for business use. Neil I guess businesses can pay Microsoft prices and set it against tax. I figure if I save 49 seconds every working day, it's paid for itself. Neil Indeed but I no longer have working days. |

This what Cnet said at the time... "Adobe has not officially released the CS2 software for free. Instead, it has cancelled its CS2 license management servers because of a technical glitch, so for those with existing licenses it is now offering downloads that do not require contact with the licensing servers. While Adobe admits this may be seen as it giving its software away for free, this service is intended for those with existing Adobe CS2 licenses." https://www.cnet.com/uk/news/adobe-releases-creative-suite-2-for-free/
