Next one is Steinway pianos making repairing &restoring, should be good, only seen one forged in fire Jason they had to make a knife and the survivors made a replica Scottish Claymore without much success I thought but entertaining nevertheless

Made my own out of scrap material and a 12 volt motor cost me nothing and does all I need, also made a 3 wheel wood cutting bandsaw that would probably make H&S turn grey but has helped make all my own fiurniture

Thread: handnade on the silk road
12/05/2016 11:46:09

Anyone watched these progs on BBC4? 1st one was the making Atlas Silk and I loved the bandsaw the chap used for chopping up bamboo what a beast! Last night was a chap carving designs on wooden pillars rounding of the square timber reminded me of making masts ,spars and booms in my RN days when the main tools were chalk lines an adze and a draw knife, can't help reflecting that with all this computer aided production these days these hand skills are being lost, sad in my view
