"on a journey, life chances, going forward etc, and all the people on tv interviews by zoom etc who park themselves in front of bookcases with a million books they have probably never read, is this to show that they must be much wiser than the peasantry?

Thread: ER 32 Collet Tightening Torque.
28/09/2020 18:20:47

Torque?? You would need a torque wrench to measure torque applied, why? In my mid seventies I just tighten by hand and have never had a cutter slip. Its a fair question but sometimes I think it's to easy to make things more complicated than they need to be

I no longer listen or watch MSM, I am just totally fed up of the doom and gloom being broadcast its getting quite alarming, no wonder people are worried sick, the Zombie apocalypse is upon us. My Wife and I are in our mid 70's with the ailments we expect at our age so we are apparently both doomed, I wonder if we are being distracted from other stuff that is happening, who knows. This will run it's course and perhaps we will emerge the other end a bit wiser, I am off to my workshop

Thread: Metric V Imperial Measurement
08/02/2020 12:08:27

As I remember in the Queen's Navy "Scantlings" were used when measurements were considered, and thickness of steel plate was measured in pounds weight, eg a 12" x12" x1" thick weighed 40 lbs,1/2" thick 20lbs,1/8" plate weighed 5lbs and so on, I only use imperial and at my age will continue to do so
