My whole garden is wildlife friendly, shrubs, trees ,dark mysterious corners, the plus is a great variety of birds insects worms, flying ickeys, bees, hedgehogs, butterflies a pond with newts frogs etc, countless hours of fun watching my garden, won't win prizes but the wildlife like it, I am not a fan of front gardens that get covered in concrete etc no wonder wildlife is declining us humans drive them out of their homes Mick  |
Thread: Questions about reamers |
17/06/2017 20:58:05 |
Is the only difference beteen machine reamers and hand reamers because a machine reamer doesn't have a square on shank so isn't a hand reamer, all my reamers have the square but I use them in my lathe mounted in a chuck with no problem, probably a daft question Mick |
Thread: Drilling a magnet |
13/06/2017 21:19:54 |
Thanks for the comments gents on reflection I shall buy a magnetic base from RDG Regards Mick |
12/06/2017 17:12:41 |
Hi Brian I have some small magnetic base machine lights but they are not really man enough(the magnets) to cling to a vertical surface thought a strong magnet I have may do the job your suggestion is a good one, RDG do base only about 60kg pull cost about £15 each but will try your solution 1st, thanks Mick |

Thread: How should we describe non-metric tooling? |
01/06/2017 12:34:30 |
Well I understand what Imperial means to me, strikes me if Imperial and Metric is in the same sentence a spirited debate will result-each to their own Mick |
01/06/2017 08:44:00 |
I was brought up and did my apprenticeship using the British system of the Imperial system, I never understood the reason why the emphasis was switched to Metric. Personally I have no time for metric and feel the younger generations have been pushed into an pointless change which has only created a confused system of measurement, all my machines are imperial and it will always be so,--just my opinion Regards Mick  |

Rod- I did see a chap on you tube who suggested that having the holes which draw air into the torch located at the handle end of the torch instead of at the nozzle reduced the chance of the flame being blown out when using in a confined space Thanks Phil re buttstap Mick |
