TATA Steel in Port Talbot are also in joint talks, local gossip was that if they didn't get Somerset they would pull the plug on Port Talbot and vice versa!

I use JB and APT, both good. APT has a large selection and gives a good service at a sensible price.

Thread: Harrison 250
12/01/2022 13:47:00

Hi Peter, Have a look at Harrisonlathe.groups.io if you search there is lots of information. The manufacture process is the same for the M250 or M300.

Single eyebolt through the bed is the correct method for lifting, I made a purpose built wheeled dolly to fit and made a path with shuttering ply as required.

Best of luck, Richard

Thread: DRO installation - a salutary lesson
30/07/2020 18:33:04

I bought a M250 with a industry quality DRO fitted when new (optical). Had a readout problem after fitting a VFD, this that was completely cured by earthing the readout.

Thread: Possible machine hoist?
01/02/2020 21:58:24
Posted by Tim Hammond on 01/02/2020 13:44:37:

Anyone remember the "Haltrac" midget hoist from years ago constructed from nylon pulleys and thin nylon rope? I bought one 40+ years ago, I still use it, find it invaluable for lifting fairly heavy lumps around my small workshop and it can literally be put into a (largish) pocket. Sadly, they don't seem to be made now, although they do appear on Ebay from time to time. If memory serves, I paid 27/6 for mine.

As a young soldier in Germany I was a weapons repair chap working on Chieftain Tanks, we were issued the Haltrac for removal and replacement of the breech block, it was also sold for moving trees, towing cars etc !!

I'm struggling for height!! Snatch block would't work.

30/01/2020 15:31:56

I bought one of these 18 months ago (for more money) and it does exactly what it should, other than the speeds a bit quick for my use. Use it to lift on and off the mill table.

Hi Bob,

I'm still jealous of that tooling you've got for the Deckel, since we corresponded I've got a large table for the dividing head that just about lives on the Alexander,
