Graphite rod can be got from College Engineering or Noggin End.

It's not shown on the CE website but if you phone them they usually have some.

Thread: A QCTP question, or two
23/12/2015 15:29:54

Gloster tools make a QCTP in alloy, I've never used one but they have been selling them for a long time.

Thread: Blackgates Power hacksaw Rebuild
17/12/2015 19:53:11

I found that the Blackgates power saw was very slow to cut until I fitted it with a power hacksaw blade. I bought a couple of bimetallic blades off eBay and drilled the appropriated holes in them. It cuts a lot faster now.

Looking forward to following this build, I have a Stuart 7V to put together when I get the workshop sorted so I expect to pick up plenty of good info from this.

Thread: What direction should this forum be taking?
13/11/2015 16:32:08

I'm with David Clark on this, I don't care what a thread is about as long as the title describes it correctly.

What does annoy me is when people drag a thread off course, instead of starting a new one.

I do think that members should support those brave enough to post their efforts online. It's easy to knock others work and those who do generally don't do anything worth posting.

Thread: Sulphuric acid
30/10/2015 21:28:02

Posted by Geoff Theasby on 29/08/2012 11:08:57:

I don't think the average squaddie is intended to hit anything, just be able to place lots of bullets in the general area. Only snipers hit anything. That's why the normal sort of assault rifle isn't very accurate. When you are being shot at, you keep your head down, that stops you seeing what's going on and you can't shoot back. That's what's supposed to happen.

I guess you weren't in the army? The average British soldier is trained to achieve one shot one kill or used to be when I had the privilege of serving.

Tony

What has any of this rubbish got to do with sulphuric acid?

Thread: Todays update from Bodgers Lodge

Thread: Straightening stainless steel rod/wire
18/08/2015 13:00:41

Your wire is a bit on the thick side but one way of straightening wire is to fasten one end to something sturdy, clamp the other end in a drill chuck and, leaning back give it a quick whizz. The other problem with this method is that being stainless the wire will work harden!

Thread: 13A Plug / Socket
11/08/2015 12:29:14

The screw in fuse in those D&S plugs could stay in the socket if it was loose. This happened to me when I was ten years old. Without thinking I grabbed it and found myself laying on the floor. Lucky I guess.
