Thanks, Steve and Tug for your kind words.

Tug, I took the back of after 30 minutes of run time, to check if the disc was showing any sighn of wear/distortion and was pleased to see that it was still as it was originally . This is the first rear disc induction engine I have made, so was not quite sure of using Nylon. It was convenient as I had a sample piece, but I did order a piece of Tufnol later ,just in case I had to re- make it

David,

Are you sure you are not getting caught by that "clever" feature that wipes all you have written if you back track to a previous post while writing. It has caught me out a couple of times and is a pain.

That was interesting reading that thread ,Jason . I had not seen it before. I thought the fixing of the fins was going to be a problem ,so used two 10BA csk screws to hold the cylinder in place.then everything is held down by the 4 long screws.

5-dsc04242.jpg4-dsc04245.jpg4-dsc04245.jpg3-dsc04247.jpg2-dsc04250.jpgThese are photos of my latest engine builld,They are another of Chris Bolls bar stock designs, this time with rear disc induction and single ball race to crankshaft. All kept simple in order to encourage modellers with minimum equipment,to make it. It was originally featured in ME in 2016, Nos 4549, 4551, 4553. Chris thought they made a p[oor job of it at the time, with small drawings and several incorrect dimentions. I have worked from full size A3 drawings obtained direct from Chris. Chris is happy for makers to modify things as they wish and I have changed the outside profile to soften it, somewhat. Internally I have changed the combustion chamber to a hemisphere,in place of the angular shape,as drawn. Also,I have used oiled Nylon for the disc valve,in place of the aluminium one specified. I had realised that,by changing the cumbustion chamber to a hemi, that I had decreased the area and might have some backfire problems. I therefore made two spacers,0.030" and 0..020" to lift the head if required. I did get backfire, so fitted the 0.030"spacer and it started smoothly first flick. So far it has had 30 minutes of run time, mostly about 3 minutes a time,on a rich setting, hence the smoke. allowing cool down between each run.All with 5% fuel and an11"x4" APC Nylon prop. Revs have continued to increase with each run from 6500 RPM to 8800 RPM latest. It is still a bit stiff so I am expecting to get to 10,000 RPM before I put it on the shelf. Starting is always first flick,so Chris has designed a docile ,if noisy engine (I love the noise) and I recomend it as an interesting project.1-dsc04255.jpg

The latest one is a year old ,with a 0ne TRBT hard drive. Even with large space originaly, junk can add up over time.

About 3 PCs back, I had something nasty in the system and was recomended by a IT savvy pal to instal the free version of WinCleaner. This solved the problem and I have had it on all my PCs to date, although I do have the premium version these days. I run it about once a week and it always finds between 100 and 400 MB of junk to clear. I also have Norton 360 and once a month it sends me a screen, saying how clever it has been eliminating usually, some 6000 rubbisfh files. Also ,if I run Win 10 Disc clean, it also finds, say, 150 MB of junk to destroy. My confusion here is, as I can get these resulst by running these one after the other, are we being conned with these figures.? I understand that Windows is the only one that can eliminate old versions of windows, but once that is done, it should be clear.

Can anyone explain these results to me please.?

Hi, I always seem to have a problem of some sort, when I upload photos to my album. I do not do it often enough to have developed a routine. Yesterday I was in the act of adding some photos of my latest engine, when, at the very moment I clicked on the Add button, I got THE Error 500 screen! I spent a hour trying different things, convinced I had caused it. I then tried to access the site through my Tablet and got the same screen.I am now relieved to know others had the same problem.

Michael G,

As no one has already said it, let me be the first to congratulate you on reaching 20,000 contributions to this Forum. It would be interesting to know how many Michael hours this has absorbed?.

Ramon, That is a lovely set of parts for your Atomatic 5cc Diesel. I am not familier with this design. Are drawings available or is it another of your re-design projects?

I have always understood that Heads was an abreviation of Bulkhead, as this structure was a convenient wall against which to place a Loo.

I think you are spot on with that suggestion Jason. The chunky crankcase will add to the weight on the driven wheel.

Definately a version of the Sparey 5cc Diesel. The cooling muff needs turning 90 degrees.

Keith.

10/01/2022 12:27:18

Hi Martin,

The diameter of the cooling muff is exactley Sparey 5cc Diesel. The crankcase is someones version of machining from solid , in place of a casting. I am curious about the brass part where a compression screw should be. Have you investigated further?

I have noticed that most new models of cars have a large screen sticking up on the dashboard, a feature that is ugly and being covered in Ikons,is likely to be a distraction to the driver. I have recently received an e mail from my local Ford dealership, inviting me to a preview of the Mk 9 Fiesta "with 12.6" flat screen" The mail has a photo of the dash showing this stiicking up,covered in Ikons Presumably the future is that these things will be a built in smart phone
