I need help in locating 20 ft of 5/8" o/d x 19g seamless steel tubing for some telescopic car bonnet stays that i have been given the task of reproducing.

I have tried my local steel retailer and even they are having trouble locating this particular gauge.

Is it definately imperial and not 16mm x 1mm?

Definitely imperial. The stays are for Jowett cars and i like to keep parts as authentic as possible.
